DESCRIPTION:Borrowed from childhood\, the title Light as a Feather references the game played by children at slumber parties in which they levitate a friend. It questions the borders not just between life and death\, but also between magic and banality\, between the serious and the childish\, between the power of the individual and the power of the group. Using lightweight substrates with encaustic processes\, pieces in the exhibit give form to the immaterial to explore the ephemeral nature of being. Deborah Kapoor is an artist and educator\, formerly a Hightstown resident who currently works in Washington and Texas.
