Coed Varsity Cross Country vs Thompson Two Miler on 9/14/2024
The team’s senior boys led off the class race format, as Baker Pott ’25 (13th, 10:39) and James Hamnett ’25 (18th, 10:48) both earned medals for their top-25 finishes. Jack Stewart ’25 (33rd, 11:29) and Rishi Swaminathan ’25 (42nd, 11:45) worked together nicely throughout the race, as did James Radigan ’25 (72nd, 13:01) and Matthew Luo ’25 (74th, 13:04) to round out the Peddie flock in the day’s opening race.
Carolina Lopez-Watt ’25 led the senior girls with a 29th place finish (14:45) while classmate Ananya Hari ’25 (38th, 15:26) bested her performance from last fall by two and a half minutes.
Sophie Winn ’26 was the lone Falcon in the junior girls race and represented the team incredibly well, recording a 27th place finish in a time of 14:43. Peddie entered two runners in the junior boys race and both had impressive performances. Ethan Sbarro ’26 (36th, 11:56) ran a minute faster than last fall while Dasyer Bullock ’26 (61st, 12:38) recovered from a fall in the last half-mile and used his impressive speed to finish his first cross country race on a strong note.
Three sophomores competed in the fifth (and largest) race of the morning with Theo Salapatas ’27 (45th, 12:03) leading the way for the second-year Falcons. Finn Gorsline ’27 (113th, 14:08) and Zachary Ji ’27 (121st, 14:36) paced well together and navigated the two-mile course admirably.
Arnav Shankar ’28 (51st, 13:15) unleashed a ferocious kick in the final stretch to complete the race as Peddie’s top freshman while Brennan Caldwell ’28 (88th, 14:47) employed a similarly strong finish. The Falcons next host the Jerry Hart Cross Country Memorial Invitational, the first 5K race of the season, on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. at Peddie Golf Course.
