Coed Varsity Rowing vs Mercer Challange on 10/29/2025

Peddie fall rowing competed in the Mercer Challenge at Caspersen Rowing Center.

Last year, the girls boats finished second, fourth, seventh and ninth in the 4+/4X+ event.

This year, the first boat was a full minute faster than Mercer’s first boat, and the second boat was a solid 30 seconds ahead of them as well for a dominant 1-2 finish.

The girls A 4x+ consisting of Izzy Naso (c, Aria Shi (4), Anna Terhaar (3), Diya Kondapalli (2), and Veronica Simms (B) placed first out of 10 teams in 18:43.1. The B 4X+ consisting of Sofia Cervantes (c, Lea Weinberger (4), Sophia Chopan (3), Ophelia Ni (2) and Claire Lin (B) placed second in the race in 19:11.4. The C 4x+ consisting of Scarlett Liu (c, Abby Cohen (4), Malia Tilton (3), Amelia Kunamneni (2) and Allison Li (B) placed ninth in the race (21:41.1). The 8+ consisting of Umay Sen (c, Malia Tilton (8), Charlotte Jones (7), Zoe Maki (6), Cirah Spurlock-Shackleton (5), Olive Ahn (4), Kim Juarez Escamilla (3), Rachel Jeon (2), and Shriya Gutta (B) finished fourth out of four teams (21:06.2). Malia Tilton doubled up so the rest of the team could race as well.

For the boys, the A 4x consisting of Armaan Motiani (4), Atharva Khamparia (3), Chris Horsch (2), Aidan Lawler (1) and Jonathan Koo (c placed sixth out of 10 teams 17:38.0. B 4X consisting of Tevin Zhou (4), Neal Patel (3), Doug Lopez (2), Charles White (1) and Frost Gil (c placed 10th in the race in 19:11.4. The 8+ sported a new lineup and finished seventh out of nine teams in 17:51.1, consisting of Tony Kim (c, Francis McGovern (8), Eeshan Garikapati (7), Griffin Truslow (6), Fred Sullivan (5), Mustafa Ekmekcki (4), Chris Horsch (3), Ayaan Nagarkatti (2) and Ryan Yan (1). Chris Horsch went directly from his 4x to join the 8+.

The Falcons next close out the fall season and compete in the Mercer Fall Classic on Sunday, Nov. 2 at Caspersen Rowing Center.
