Head Coach, Julie Sheldon: Varsity Girls Field Hockey

Julie Sheldon ’05 has strong Falcon roots.
She moved to campus in 1997 when her parents joined the faculty, and she and her two brothers attended Peddie.
For Sheldon, the opportunity to help rebuild the girls field hockey program has been an immensely fulfilling challenge. Passing down the rich history and love for Peddie girls field hockey from former players to the current generation has been equally rewarding.
Sheldon said she is proud to watch her players compete and grow while fostering a great team culture. She started coaching immediately after graduating college, first as an assistant field hockey coach at Hartwick College, where she spent two years.
Her parents, particularly her father, have been a wellspring of inspiration for Sheldon.
“My dad was a longtime football coach, so I get a lot of my philosophy and views about coaching from watching him and being around him for so many years,” she said.
Regarding her coaching philosophy, Sheldon believes in mastering the fundamentals as the foundation for progress.
“You have to have good, strong fundamentals in order to move forward,” Sheldon said. “Work hard. Love your team (loyalty, support, dedication). Most importantly, have fun!”
Outside of Peddie, Sheldon said she enjoys spending quality time with family, working out and just loving life.
