Student Film Screening – Sanai Parrish
View Sanai Parrish’s film screening of the documentary she created for her Summer Signature Experience, “Searching for the Pearl,” on January 30 in the Ding Music Hall from 6:30–8 p.m. The film is about connecting to her Haitian ethnic identity and Haitian cultural cultivation in the United States.
The screening is free and open to everyone and is a great opportunity to hang out, eat good food and learn about Haitian culture.

What is it: A documentary screening that explores what it means to grow up connected to Haitian roots while living in the diaspora. Through personal stories, family history, and community voices, the film reflects on identity and the importance of preserving culture through storytelling.
The night kicks off with a welcome reception at 6:30 p.m. with Haitian food and music. At 7 p.m., Sanai will introduce the project and share the story behind the film, followed by the screening, which will be about 20 minutes. After the film, around 7:45, p.m. there will be a Q&A with Sanai and a conversation about Haitian identity and the diaspora, and what it’s like making a documentary as a student filmmaker.
