Advanced Chinese Language & Culture

Terms: 3
Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12, PG
Prerequisite: Permission of the Department

Advanced Chinese Language and Culture is offered to Chinese heritage students but also to non-heritage students who have successfully completed Peddie Chinese language level IV or AP Chinese or equivalent course. Through studying Chinese classic and contemporary literature and poem, current events (social issues) and home economics, films and arts, students will gain deeper understanding of Chinese culture and tradition, sharpen their language skills, as well as develop their global competence. Although this is a year-long course, it will focus on a different topic each term. Authentic materials will be used as the primary learning resources and students are expected to use the target language in class all the time.

Note: Students may take one, two or three terms of this course and may add it in fall or winter term.
