In this upper-level course, students continue to develop the four basic language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. This course requires a strong background in French. Students are expected to supplement their skills outside of class by reading current events, listening to French and communicating with their classmates. The course covers a broad range of themes such as beauty, technology, environmental issues, family and community life, education, and migration in the Francophone world. Students will prepare for the Advanced Placement language examination through oral and written activities that treat the above topics. Reading selections will range from poems and song lyrics, to articles and literature, while listening selections will include a variety of sources such as songs, movies, podcasts and current events from the French news. The course is conducted solely in French and requires active participation.
Note: Students taking this course are required to take the AP French Language and Culture exam.
