Digital Fabrication

Terms: 1 (not offered every term).
Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12, PG

This course serves as an introduction to basic product design and modern manufacturing processes. Emphasis is placed on the creative design process and 3D design. Computer Aided Design (CAD) software will be used to create 3D digital models of mechanisms with a focus on modeling and simulation, design robustness and manufacturability. Topics include idea generation, concept selection, mechanical power transmission, design for manufacturing, and basic electronics. Students will design, fabricate, and test products of their own design using Peddie€™s 3D Printer, CNC Laser, and CNC Router. No prior experience is assumed. If you have questions, contact Mr. Meredith.
