Honors Human Anatomy & Physiology

Prerequisite: One year of Chemistry with an A- average (B for Honors Chemistry) OR One year of Biology with a minimum A average (B for Honors Biology) OR One year of AP Biology with a minimum B average.
This course is for students interested in pursuing medicine, and may be taken concurrently with AP Biology. Students will be introduced to the human body from an integrative perspective. Emphasis is on interrelationships among systems and regulation of physiological functions involved in maintaining homeostasis from the level of the cell to the level of the organism. Students in the honors course will be expected to apply analytical reasoning to the topics discussed and to complete outside reading and independent research on related medical topics.
Note: The AP Biology curriculum has no anatomy content.
