Linear Algebra

Terms: 2
Grades: 10, 11, 12, PG
Prerequisite: AP Calculus BC (may be taken concurrently) and Permission of the Department.

Linear Algebra is a branch of mathematics that studies vector spaces and the linear mappings between these spaces. Topics include linear transformations, matrices and their factorizations, systems of linear equations, vector spaces, bases, projections, rotations, determinants, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, and inner products. Throughout the course, students will be introduced to modern Data Science applications by experimenting with topics such as machine learning, cryptography, natural language processing, and computer vision. Some programming will be included but no prior coding experience is expected. This course covers the content of a one-semester college course, but does not typically allow the student to bypass a university requirement in Linear Algebra.
