Modern Global History: Global Migration in the 20th Century

Terms: 1 (not offered every term)
Grades: 10

In 2020, an estimated 281 million people were living outside their countries of origin. The causes and consequences of global migration are complex and often polarizing. This course will allow students to investigate the nature of global migration in the post€World War II era and consider the pressures of migration found in both the sending and receiving nations. Students will explore and critically evaluate the forces that drive migration (e.g. civil war, environment & climate, public health concerns, economic conditions and religious and ethnic persecution), as well as resulting political and social tensions that result from the movement of people.
