Modern Global History: New Countries, New Problems

This course will analyze the various strategies that modern leaders in select countries in Asia, Latin America and Africa have used to obtain independence for their countries since 1945. Students will assess the successes and challenges in various countries, and also evaluate the newer forms of political and economic imperialism used today by certain world powers that have hampered the ability of new nations to fully reach their potential, often leading to economic and political crises.
