Modern Global History: The Middle East

This class will allow students to have an in€depth study of The Middle East from the end of World War II through current era. We will begin by looking closely at the creation of the state of Israel. Students will also examine the role of oil, religion, nationalism and extremism in the Middle East. The future of the Middle East will also be considered, as well as contemporary issues such as terrorism and the Arab Spring. Specific topics for study will include an introduction to Islam, the Israeli€Palestinian controversy, the Iranian Revolution, and the three Iraq wars.
