Izzo Design Laboratory

The Izzo Design Laboratory is a vibrant, collaborative space where students unite to explore, innovate and create. Representing Peddie’s commitment to STEM education and interdisciplinary learning, this dynamic maker space serves as the nucleus for engineering, mechanical design and manufacturing coursework. It is also the home base for our award-winning Robotics Team, which competes on both national and international stages.

Within the Izzo Design Laboratory, you’ll find:

A Dynamic Design Studio: Equipped with 17 workstations, each outfitted with cutting-edge computer-aided design (CAD) software, this area allows students to transform concepts into detailed digital models. The design studio is a hub of creativity, where students collaborate on projects, share ideas and develop essential CAD skills.

An Advanced Engineering Studio: Boasting professional-grade equipment, including a CNC laser, mill, router and lathe, this studio enables precise manufacturing and prototyping. State-of-the-art 3D printers provide the ability to create complex objects. Here, theoretical knowledge meets practical application, giving students hands-on experience with industry-standard tools.

Collaborative Lab Tables: These tables foster teamwork and collaboration, providing ample space for group projects. Students can work together, share tools and materials, and combine their skills to tackle complex challenges, encouraging peer learning and innovation.

A Spacious Testing Studio: This studio offers ample space for testing designs and prototypes, equipped with various tools for performance and functionality assessment. It enables students to refine their designs and ensure their projects meet required specifications and standards.

The Izzo Design Laboratory is more than just a workspace; it is a community where students come together to learn, experiment and push the boundaries of what is possible. Through hands-on projects and real-world applications, students gain invaluable experience, preparing them for future careers in engineering, design and technology. This innovative space embodies Peddie’s commitment to fostering creativity, collaboration and excellence in STEM education.

Team 5895

Peddie Robotics

The award-winning Peddie Robotics Team participates in the FIRST Robotics Competition. Under strict rules, limited resources and time limits, teams build and program a 120-lb. robot to compete in an open-ended design challenge. Peddie’s Robotics Team designs and builds the robot during the winter term and attends local and international competitions during the spring term.
