Faculty Support
We are grateful to our donors who are committed to helping Peddie offer competitive compensation and ongoing professional development opportunities for Peddie faculty. Each summer, Peddie educators travel to all corners of the globe to enhance their expertise and bring cutting-edge knowledge back to Peddie. This is just one of those stories:
Summer Institute in Digital Literacy
Thanks to the support of donors like you, Visual Art Teacher Craig Dale continued his studies at the University of Rhode Island’s Summer Institute in Digital Literacy in 2023. During this session, students continued the work of Digital Educational systems, attitudes and applications by taking a deep dive into change planning and leadership strategies.
“One of the great attributes of The Peddie School is that it encourages and fosters leadership from all strata of the community.” — Visual Art Teacher Craig Dale P’24
“I focused on what the Art Department of the future might look like and how it might become more foundational to new pedagogies and learning outcomes across academic disciplines,” said Dale. “The explosion of AI technology is proof of the wholesale changes that our society is facing. While some see a crisis in technologies like mobile phones and AI, I, and many of my colleagues, see opportunities galore. AI tutoring systems, classroom assistants, and media-based learning outcomes will excite and challenge young learners like nothing has before. It’s a thrilling inflection point for education, and educators.
“Critical thinking is about to evolve, and savvy educators will stay out in front of the wave of change. That’s where the leadership component of my summer experience comes in. One of the great attributes of The Peddie School is that it encourages and fosters leadership from all strata of the community. I believe that the evolution that will propel the school into the future will come not from one body of leaders at the top but from a field of micro-leaders spread throughout the school – change agents pointing the way and proving the concepts. My work at the University of Rhode Island will help me to play the role of leader and facilitator as we move this school firmly into the future.”
“Teaching is a practice that must grow and evolve. Your support helps me to do just that.”
