George W. Case, Jr., Class of 1936

George Case was undoubtedly one of the finest baseball players ever to play the game at Peddie. In his years at Peddie, George was the outstanding pitcher for the team. George pitched so hard that it was said that no one on the 1935 team could catch for him. According to Carl Geiger in his book, in a game for Pennington, George struck out five men in one inning and three of them scored. He was also captain of the basketball team. The Old Gold and Blue said that he proved to be a great power about which to build the team. “Not only was he an unusually fine leader, he was also a player of exceptional scoring ability.” George had the unique distinction of being the high scorer for Peddie in every game in spite of opponents double and triple-teaming him. George went on to a very successful professional baseball career.
