How to get the most out of your Peddie tour

Hi! I’m Claire. I’ve been a tour guide at Peddie since freshman year, but before that, I was just like you — checking out Peddie on a tour. That experience really helped me see what life here could be like. To make the most out of your Peddie tour, here are some of my suggestions:

Don’t be afraid to ask your tour guide

Curious about a specific subject or activity? Want us to slow down or repeat something? Need clarification on what MPS or PFS means? Sometimes we might forget to explain them fully, so if it happens, just remind us! (If you want to know now: MPS = Math Problem Solving, PFS = Peddie Food Service) We’re here to help, and we want to make your tour as useful as possible. I’ve given tours in Mandarin for parents who weren’t fluent in English. Whatever you need, just let us know.

It’s not just about the buildings

We’ll walk you through the buildings during the tour, but a tour isn’t really just about the bricks and columns. When you are on campus, pay attention to the energy around you. Notice the students around you or peek into a class. Can you picture yourself here?

Asking about the student experience > facts on the website

While we’re happy to share facts like class sizes and student-teacher ratios, tours are also a great place to ask questions that can’t be found online. The website is always there with facts and figures, but what you can’t get from there as much is the student experience, and that’s what the tours are about. I think tours can make a school feel more real, so it’s not just about the numbers or lists of offerings. So ask about our favorite memories at Peddie, all the animals we see on campus (a lot of squirrels, faculty dogs, and a heron!), or the best library snacks to get (the chocolate mushrooms are my favorite)!

Stay in touch

You’ll get your tour guide’s email at the end of the tour. So if new questions come up after the tour, you know where to find us!

We can’t wait to see you on campus. Ala viva!
