What I love about being a day student

With Peddie’s after school activities and incredible community, tour guide Sofia finds that being a day student means having a home away from home.

Being a day student offers the best of both worlds. Day students get to be a part of the Peddie community, in classes, sports, theater, and school events, and also get to go home every day to spend time with their families.

1. Our Strong Day Student Community

While day students and boarders are very closely intertwined, Peddie’s day student community fosters supportive and close-knit friendships. With the help of day student prefects, new day students are introduced to their upperclassmen peers, whom they receive advice from to adjust to a brand new community. As a day student, I often find myself bonding with my day student friends, carpooling to and from school, which makes drives to school really exciting and fun.

2. Opportunities and Activities After the Academic Day

Peddie offers a variety of activities after school including sports and theater practice. As a day student, I love to stay on campus to eat dinner with my friends. We love to spend time playing spikeball or hanging out in the grille after dinner, enjoying each other’s company. As a day student, I still have access to amazing resources on campus like the Writing Center and Math Center if I ever need help with homework or essays. At night, I love to stay late on campus to study with friends in the library.

3. Having Two Homes, One at Peddie and One at Home

After a long day at school, the feeling of going back to the comfort of home is really heartwarming. The ability to spend quality time with my siblings and family on the weekends brings me joy. Being a day student allows me to enjoy the excitement of being at Peddie during the day, and returning to the comfort and familiarity of my family in the evenings. Being a day student means that you have two homes, one at Peddie and one with your family – it’s really the best of both worlds!
