My favorite teachers at Peddie
An incredible high school experience begins with great teachers. Tour guide Molly talks about the teachers who have made her time at Peddie so special.
All of the teachers at Peddie make the learning experience fun, unique and engaging. Being in a classroom with any of the teachers here brings the privilege of learning from different perspectives and personalities.
That being said, here are the teachers at Peddie that have made my high school experience extremely special.
Mrs. Wood
Being in a classroom with Mrs. Wood has heightened my learning experience because she makes you feel seen and cared about. Her approach to teaching emphasizes empathy for one another and towards the texts we read. Finally, I absolutely adore our weekly nature walks, yoga sessions, and meditation because they allow for reflection and recollection. Plus, sometimes you need a break from the classroom, and Mrs. Wood understands that!
Mr. Gartner
It is always a silly time in Math Problem Solving 2 and Precalc when Mr. Gartner is your teacher! I’ve been taught how to solve equations with storytimes in between each problem. These stories are always somehow connected to the lessons being taught, and they make the class engaging and entertaining. Coming to Peddie, I would never consider myself a “math person.” However, having Mr. Gartner as my teacher for two years in a row has taught me that any subject can be enjoyable when approached with the right attitude.
Ms. Somers
Modern Global with Ms. Somers was one of the most enjoyable classes of my sophomore year. The way Ms. Somers explains events in history with such passion creates an extremely engaging learning environment. I’ve never had more fun in a history class than when I learned about the French Revolution. Her sincerity and care for students are shown when she checks up on you after class. She will reach out to you when you don’t do well on a test and teach you independently how to become a better test-taker. She is a lovely presence here at The Peddie School, and our community would not be the same without her.
