Treese Named Baseball All-Prep Coach of the Year
Head Coach Erik Treese has had long-time success in his 23 years at the helm of Peddie Boys Baseball.
After the team doubled its previous year’s win total with a 12-7 overall record and 8-4 tally in the MAPL, he was named All-Prep Baseball Coach of the Year by The Trentonian.
“One of my favorite things about Erik is that he challenges each team to reach their full potential,” Director of Athletics Rich D’Andrea said. “This year’s team was both talented and driven. Erik is a brilliant tactician, a passionate parent and a staunch supporter of Peddie Baseball. It’s near impossible to quantify his contributions to the program. In fact, as far as I’m concerned, Erik Treese and Peddie Baseball are synonymous terms.”
“We played good baseball,” Erik Treese said. “We got off to a good start to the year and rode that early confidence to a good year in the MAPL. We pitched well, played solid defense, and, at times, had an explosive offense.”
Catcher Eduard Fernandez ’26, who will be taking a postgraduate year at Maine’s Bridgton Academy in the fall, and right-handed pitcher Brody Buchner ’26, who will be playing baseball at Johns Hopkins University, were named All-Area First Team. Outfielder Jonathan Stizza ’27 and utility player Evan Treese ’28 were named to the Second Team.
Additionally, Fernandez, Stizza, Buchner, Evan Treese and designated hitter Kadin Huling ’27 were named All-Prep Baseball First Team. Nick Famularo ’27, Jaden Heble ’27, Maverick Mullevy ’29, Haruo Narita ’27 and Simon Xi ’28 were named as Honorable Mentions.

Erik Treese said excellent leadership from the team’s senior co-captains Buchner and Fernandez set a standard, both on and off the field, for the rest of the team to follow.
“What jumps out to me about the team is that they enjoyed competing, they wanted to win, and they liked being with each other,” he said. “We had a great blend of senior leadership and youthful energy.”
“This year was a really close group, and I think the Florida spring training trip helped with that,” Stizza said. “Doubling our win total was huge, and with a lot of guys coming back and younger players joining the program, I think Peddie Baseball is in a really good spot moving forward.”
