Arts

The arts have real allure here. They’re a fun, creative, immersive experience.

We offer amazing facilities like the Mariboe Gallery, a black box theater, music and visual art studios and a 535-seat auditorium with an orchestra pit. These facilities are designed to provide you with the best possible environment to nurture your artistic talents and skills.

Our curriculum is not just comprehensive, it’s unique. We cater to newcomers and offer college-level electives. For those seeking a challenge, we provide advanced placement courses in music theory and studio art. The Arts Signature Experience is an exceptional opportunity where you can design your own intensive project and gain hands-on experience.

Prepare to be inspired as you’ll have the privilege to work with our experienced faculty members and renowned visiting artists. And you’ll benefit from our location, near the world’s best art museums, galleries and performance venues in New York City, Philadelphia and Princeton.

There are plenty of opportunities to put your creative side to work — in the studio, on the stage or behind the scenes as a stage manager, set builder and lighting or sound technician. At Peddie, you can get involved with what you are passionate about or just curious about, with strong support and encouragement from your teachers and fellow students every step of the way. Our dedicated arts faculty are here to guide and inspire you, ensuring you have the best possible experience in the arts program.

As a freshman, you’ll dive headfirst into the Arts Foundations program with three terms of arts classes, one in each of the three areas: music, theater and visual arts.

In addition to the ninth-grade arts requirement, we empower freshman musicians to add chorus and/or orchestra to their schedule as an elective. Similarly, on occasion, freshmen with a strong interest in visual arts or theater may choose to take an elective in these areas in addition to their required ninth-grade arts courses. After fulfilling the freshman arts requirement, you’ll take at least two additional arts electives in any area, shaping your artistic journey to your interests and passions.
