Theater
Peddie’s theater program is for those who have never been lit up on a stage before and for those who have Broadway lights in their future. Led by seasoned professionals from the industry, our theater department provides diverse courses and electives during the academic day and extracurricular activities designed to captivate those with specific interests within the field.
We believe in learning by doing. Our Freshman Musical is a student (and audience) favorite. Performed before a packed house just weeks after our freshmen arrive on campus, this optional musical theater class teaches the fundamentals of musical theater – including courage and teamwork! Once that is under your belt, elective courses and extracurriculars provide ample opportunities to hone dramatic and musical skills. If you’re drawn to the magic that happens behind the curtain, you’ll have the chance to work on the intricacies of set, properties, lighting, sound and costume design.
Throughout the year, our theater department stages a variety of productions, including plays, musicals, one-acts, a public speaking competition and the Declamation Contest. These experiences offer ample opportunities to explore the dynamic world of live performance in all its facets. Our proximity to Broadway, Philadelphia and Princeton grants you easy access to vibrant theater scenes and exposure to visiting actors, directors, musicians and producers.
