Girls Softball

The Peddie varsity girls softball team (0-1) fell to Hopewell Valley Central High School, 5-4, on the road in a season opener. Iris Lin went 3-for-3 with an RBI. She also pitched six innings for a complete game. Jules Miele went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a double and a run scored. Noemi Ortiz went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, a double and a stolen base. The Falcons next host Ewing High School in a home opener on Saturday, March 28 at 1 p.m. at the Varsity Softball Field.

The Peddie varsity girls softball team (0-2) fell to Ewing High School, 7-6, in a home opener. Noemi Ortiz went 3-for-4 with two RBI, two doubles and two runs scored. Jules Miele went 1-for-3 with three runs scored, two walks and a stolen base. Lizzie Danbury, Candence Schuster and Ariana Gomez each added an RBI. Iris Lin pitched seven innings, allowing one earned run on eight hits, striking out three and walking three. The Falcons next host The Lawrenceville School on Tuesday, March 31 at 4:15 p.m. at the Varsity Softball Field.

The Peddie varsity girls softball team (1-2) defeated The Lawrenceville School, 11-8, at home.

Alex Anton led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a pinch-hit single. Sophia Pei ran for Anton and scored later on in the inning, giving the Falcons a 7-6 lead. Ariana Gomez cleared the bases and scored herself with a full count and two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, extending the Falcons’ lead to 11-6.

The Falcons stranded runners on second and third with two outs in the top of the seventh inning after Sam Kent secured the catch in center field for the final out.

Jules Miele pitched six innings, allowed eight runs (five earned) on nine hits, struck out six and walked none. At the plate, Miele went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Noemi Ortiz went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a double, two runs scored and three stolen bases. Sam Kent went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored and two stolen bases. Lizzie Danbury and Cadence Schuster each scored two runs.

The Falcons next host Rutgers Preparatory School on Thursday, April 2 at 4:15 p.m. at the Varsity Softball Field.

The Peddie varsity girls softball team (2-2) defeated Rutgers Preparatory School, 15-5, in five innings at home. Jules Miele went 4-for-4 with four runs scored, a triple and three stolen bases. Sam Kent went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a home run, two RBI, a double and a stolen base. Cadence Schuster went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base. Iris Lin earned the win in the circle as the starter, pitched 4 ⅓ innings, allowed five runs (one earned). eight hits, struck out three and walked one. At the plate, Lin went 2-for-4 with one run scored and an RBI. Miele entered the game in the fifth inning and struck out the side to close out the game. The Falcons next host Blair Academy on Wednesday, April 8 at 4:30 p.m. at the Varsity Softball Field.

The Falcons next host Mercersburg Academy in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 11, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Varsity Softball Field.

Iris Lin hit a walk-off single on the ground through the middle, with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring Ariana Gomez from second base to win the game. Gomez hit a one-out double. Jules Miele pitched a complete game, seven innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits, striking out nine and walking none. As a batter, Miele also stole four bases. Lizzie Danbury went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk. Sam Kent went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

The Falcons next travel to The Hill School on Wednesday, April 15 at 4:30 p.m.

Jules Miele pitched a complete game (seven innings), allowing four runs (three earned), on seven hits, struck out 13 and walked five. At the plate, she went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Ariana Gomez hit a solo home run and went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Grace Lee went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Iris Lin went 2-for-4 with a run scored. The Falcons next host Allentown High School on Wednesday, April 22 at 4:30 p.m. at the Varsity Softball Field.

Ariana Gomez went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base. Lizzie Danbury went 2-for-4 with a run scored. The Falcons next host The Hill School on Friday, April 24 at 4:30 p.m. at the Varsity Softball Field.

The Peddie varsity girls softball team (5-7) defeated The Hill School, 15-11, at home. The Falcons scored 12 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ariana Gomez went 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored. Jules Miele went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, a double and a stolen base. Noemi Ortiz went 1-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored, two walks and a stolen base. Grace Lee, Iris Lin, Bella Oushalkas and Sophia Pei celebrated Senior Day, The Falcons next host The Hun School of Princeton on Tuesday, April 28 at 4:30 p.m. at the Varsity Softball Field.

The Peddie varsity girls softball team (6-7) defeated The Hun School of Princeton, 6-4, at home. It was the first time in 10 years the Falcons defeated Hun.

Peddie trailed 4-1 entering the bottom of the third inning, but knotted the score with three runs in the home half. Grace Lee made a diving catch to her left at third base for the first out of the top of the sixth inning, up 5-4. Jules Miele caught a popout on the mound for the second out. Sophia Pei caught the final out of the inning in left field.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Noemi Ortiz scored from third base on a passed ball with two outs, giving the Falcons a 6-4 lead.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Falcons turned a double play for the first two outs of the inning. Miele caught a popup and the runner broke for second base. Miele handed the ball to Lizzie Danbury at first base to complete the double play. Danbury caught the final out at second base to seal the win.

“We started off slowly defensively and we were down early” Head Coach Tom Meneskie said. “But after that, everyone was making plays. The double play at the end was very important, especially in a close game like that.”

Miele threw a complete game, seven innings, allowing no earned runs on five hits, striking out seven and walking three.

“This team is just great when we have energy,” Miele said. “We’re girls, we just have fun out there. We showed up here to play and have fun. We’re building a team that’s really going to go far and I’m really excited to play.”

“What a great game by Jules as a freshman pitcher facing a good hitting team,” Meneskie said. “There are a couple of seniors on Hun who are going to play college softball and she held them in check all game. Sam Kent caught a good game behind the plate for her. Jules was just in total control. The moment wasn’t too big for her.”

Noemi Ortiz went 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, two stolen bases and an RBI. Ariana Gomez went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a run scored, a double and a stolen base. Lizzie Danbury went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

The Falcons next host Princeton High School on Thursday, April 30 at 4:30 p.m. at the Varsity Softball Field.

Jules Miele pitched a complete-game shutout, seven innings, allowing no runs on five hits, striking out five and walking one. At the plate, Miele went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Iris Lin went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Anna Oushalkas also contributed an RBI. The Falcons next travel to West Windsor-Plainsboro South High School on Saturday, May 2 at 2 p.m.

Peddie trailed 10-7 and scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 12-10 lead. Sam Kent went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, a double and two runs scored. Lizzie Danbury went 4-for-5 with an RBI, two runs scored, two stolen bases and a double. Noemi Ortiz went 3-for-5 with a run scored, a walk and a stolen base. Cadence Schuster went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Jules Miele went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, two runs scored, a double and stolen base. Miele also pitched a complete game, seven innings, allowing 10 runs (six earned), on 11 hits, striking out 14 and walking one. The Falcons next travel to The Lawrenceville School on Tuesday, May 5 at 4:15 p.m.

The Falcons (second seed) next host Kent Place School (seventh seed) in the 2025-2026 NJISAA Prep A Quarterfinal, on Friday, May 8 at 4:45 p.m. at the Varsity Softball Field.

The Peddie varsity girls softball team (8-9) (second seed) fell to Kent Place School (seventh seed), 3-2, in the 2025-2026 NJISAA Prep A Quarterfinal, at home. Kent Place School took a 3-2 lead with two outs in the top of the seventh inning after a line drive single scored the go-ahead run. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Cadence Schuster hit a two-run single to drive in Ariana Gomez and Sam Kent for a 2-0 lead. Jules Miele struck out six and walked one in seven innings, allowing two earned runs. The Falcons next host Nottingham High School/Hamilton West in the final home game of the season on Saturday, May 9 at 1 p.m. at the Varsity Softball Field.

The Peddie varsity girls softball team (8-10) fell to Nottingham High School/Hamilton West, 5-0, at home, in the final home game of the season. Noemi Ortiz went 2-for-3. Bella Oushalkas went 1-for-2. Iris Lin pitched the first three innings and Jules Miele pitched the final four. The Falcons next conclude the season on the road at Lawrence High School, on Friday, May 15 at 4:15 p.m.
