Head Coach, Amanda Vos Strache: Varsity Girls Lacrosse

After two years as assistant coach for Peddie varsity girls lacrosse, Amanda Vos Strache begins her first season as head coach.
Vos Strache said she was lucky to find her passion for teaching history and coaching sports immediately following graduation from college. After living and working in California and on the East Coast, primarily in private day schools, she found herself gravitating toward the boarding school environment.
“From the moment I walked onto campus here for my interview it felt like home,” she said.
She credits those who coached her such as Gina Buggy, 1984 field hockey Olympian and longtime athletic director at Vos Strache’s alma mater, The Episcopal Academy. Buggy would later hire her as her assistant.
Vos Strache said Buggy sought out the latest and greatest drills to keep the practices fresh, fun and challenging. In addition, she embraced the spirit of a true scholar-athlete and encouraged continued character development on and off the field.
“Her passion and love for athletics inspired me at a very young age; her approach to coaching that was fueled by passion, empathy and an energetic, competitive spirit is the strong foundation to my own coaching style,” Vos Strache said.
Vos Strache’s favorite moments are at the end of a hard practice when there is an exhausted bliss from the hard work that the team put in together.
“It’s those special moments when we break at the end of practice where the team looks to one another in recognition that together, they are stronger,” she said.
She is inspired by the motivated student-athletes who work to improve individually, while also embracing the importance of working as a team to achieve success.
“I am privileged to be surrounded by the many exceptional coaches at Peddie who all work in tandem to ensure our athletes are supported, motivated and encouraged to maximize their talents,” Vos Strache said.
Vos Strache is also an assistant coach for the varsity girls field hockey team, having been a four-year starter, all-league, Academic All-American and captain during her senior year for Stanford Field Hockey. She also competed with the U.S. National Development Team in 2005.
Outside of Peddie, she enjoys beach walks, lots of reading, writing short stories and hanging out with her kids.
