M. Allison King, Class of 1987

M. Allison King is one of the finest soccer and lacrosse players ever to play at The Peddie School, earning seven letters at Peddie, three in soccer (four if letters had been awarded in the initial season), three in lacrosse and one in track.

After playing on the Hightstown PAL boys traveling soccer team for three years, Allison entered Peddie the same year, 1983, that the late Noah Hotchkiss convinced the school administration to start a girls soccer program. Due largely to excellent coaching and an entering group of skilled athletes, the team was an immediate success. In its first four years of existence it reached the state prep finals three times, winning titles twice. Allison captained the team in her senior year when the team won its second straight state championship finishing the year 13-3-1 overall and 12-0 in league play. The winning tradition which that initial group established continues to the present day.

As a leader of those first four teams from the start, Allison set scoring records for career goals (82) and single season goals (25), both school records. All four years she was named to the state prep all-star team. She was also chosen as the most valuable soccer player and elected co-captain in her senior year. In her single season of indoor track, Allison set the indoor hurdles record at the time. Her athletic ability, pioneering efforts in soccer, leadership and sportsmanship are beacons for all Peddie athletes to follow.
