Yearbook Journalism

Grades: 10, 11, 12, PG

This course is for students who have applied for and been chosen as Yearbook Editors for the following school year.

This hands-on course gives students the opportunity to be involved in one of the biggest publications at Peddie. Students in this course are responsible for the creation and production of a certain number of assigned page layouts. Page layout assignments include: collecting and taking photographs, conducting interviews, writing captions and stories, organizing the information into well designed page-layouts, meeting deadlines, and editing the pages for spelling errors and misinformation. Students should expect to have a few meetings outside of class time and to pitch-in whenever help is needed. The most successful contributors are detail-oriented, think outside the box, and appreciate different points of view or would like to develop the aforementioned traits. Those with previous knowledge of the technology used and good organizational skills will assume an editor’s position or take a leadership role on the publication staff.
