Student Life

Jenate Brown joined Peddie’s English Department in 2015 after starting her teaching career in Baltimore City Public Schools. Outside of the classroom, Brown is the dean of students for the 11th grade class, coach of the junior varsity girls basketball team and assists with supervising students in Trask Dormitory (all-gender housing). She resides in the Avery Dormitory with her wife, Sarah, and dog, Wallace.

Anny Candelario joined Peddie in 2023 as the assistant head for student life and 12th grade and PG class dean. In partnership with school leaders and the class deans, Anny is working to cultivate a close community that is committed to the intellectual, social and moral growth of all Peddie students. Anny came to Peddie from Phillips Academy (Andover) where she worked from 2015-2023. In her years at Andover, she served as a member of the Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science Department, coached junior varsity girls basketball and lacrosse, was a house counselor in a boy’s dormitory, advisor and a cluster dean. Prior to Andover, Anny held teaching, advising, coaching and administrative roles at her high school alma mater, Tabor Academy, from 2005-2015. Anny is also a member of the Mathematics Department and very excited to be a Peddie Falcon! She resides on campus with her family.

Doreen Duck joined the Deans’ Office in 2015. Having previously worked in Roosevelt Public School as the assistant to the business administrator, she brings a wealth of administrative knowledge. An integral part of the organization and communication of the Deans’ Office, she is a touchpoint for all Peddie students.

Jan Denise Loughran, J.D. ’77 P’09 ’10 ’12 ’16 joined Peddie’s English Department faculty for the second time in 2006. In addition to her classroom duties, Loughran is the dean of students for the 9th grade class, SNA captain, PA swimming instructor and assists with supervising students in Potter North, Potter South and Masters Dorm. She resides on campus with her family.

Dr. Shani Peretz P’20 ’24 ’27 joined the Science Department in 2005 and is the 10th grade class dean. During her time at Peddie she has chaired the Science Department and founded the Research Science Summer Signature Program (STEM-EXP). Prior to joining Peddie, she earned her Ph.D. from Yale University and worked to set up clinical cancer research trials. Shani and her family live on campus and raise puppies for The Seeing Eye. They also love to travel and explore!

After 20 years heading the Peddie Swimming Program as director of competitive swimming, Greg Wriede ’95 P’23 ’25 ’27 has assumed the role of director of student leadership development and student activities. Utilizing two decades of experience developing athletes who competed at the Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games and World Championships, he turns his focus to working with the next generations of Peddie student leaders. Wriede resides on campus with his family.
