Finding My Future
Samantha Forte ’27
When Samantha Forte ’27 came to Peddie, she immediately knew it was the right place for her.
“Now that I’m at Peddie, I really can’t imagine myself anywhere else. I love Peddie so much!” she said. ”One of my favorite things about Peddie is they want you to try everything, even if you haven’t done it before.”
Forte has been enjoying trying new things and discovering unexpected passions from the start.
Forte had never performed in a theater production and would have found it difficult because of her commitment as a three-season athlete. But with Peddie’s Freshman Musical elective open to all freshmen, Forte not only performed in the musical, she found a new passion. Cast as the titular role in Shrek, she performed with experienced and first-time performers to an enthusiastic audience. “It was a lot of work and there wasn’t downtime, but it was so rewarding,” she said.
Another new experience was a trip with the music department and sixty other students to the French Quarter Jazz Festival in New Orleans, where she was immersed in new types of music and culture.
Forte has always liked math. But she really enjoys Peddie’s two-year Mathematical Problem Solving course (MPS). “Being able to work collaboratively with others has given me a deeper passion for math and finance,” she said. “Even in courses that aren’t geared towards math, you can apply it.” MPS coursework is designed to help students develop a deep-seated resilience, creativity and courage that not only prepares them for future mathematical endeavors but also for life. “I’ve always been interested in math, but now it’s my favorite!”
Forte is excited to have learned she was selected as a member of the Peddie School Student Investment Committee (PSSIC). She is not only excited to learn for herself, but she is honored to be entrusted with the responsibility for Peddie – and grateful for the opportunity to possibly give back to Peddie through her work with PSSIC.
