Head Coach, Brian Dubrule: Varsity Girls Golf

In Brian Dubrule’s inaugural year as assistant coach in 2019, the team clinched the MAPL Championship, securing victory by a single stroke.

Exciting as that was for Dubrule, his favorite moment with the team is as head coach at the 2022 Mercer County Tournament. The team had just lost the MAPL title in a playoff but just two days later, they were at the Princeton Golf Course going up against some of the best teams in the state.

The Falcons loaded up the top 15 spots and won by strokes. “It was a great moment, especially after the heartbreak at MAPLs,” Dubrule said. “A true team effort.”

Dubrule grew up in central Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Alabama and then worked in Russia for nearly two years, where he met his wife.

“Most people coach golf so they can play golf; during matches, coaches go out and play a few holes while the girls are playing,” he said. “I, on the other hand, prefer to just walk around, watch the girls play, and take in all of the nature and beauty that can be found on a golf course.”

Dubrule’s coaching philosophy is fairly basic: practice hard, play your best, be nice; not necessarily in that order.

“I always hope that when players look back at their time at Peddie, they think of the friends they made and the fun they had on the golf team,” he said. “I love seeing alums at Reunion every year.”
