Head Coach, Emmett Walling: Varsity Swimming

Emmett Walling joined the Peddie athletic staff in 2018 as an assistant coach.

The Manasquan native brings a wealth of swimming knowledge to the pool, both as a coach and swimmer. He is a two-time New Jersey High School State Champion and a member of the Manasquan High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Prior to Peddie, Walling served as head coach of the Coronado Swim Association (CSA) and assistant coach at UC San Diego Tritons under head coach David Marsh, who was also the 2016 Rio Olympic Games women’s head coach.

A student-athlete at the University of Southern California (USC) from 2009-10 and team captain for the 2010-11 season, Walling was a seven-time All-American, 2012 Olympic Trials Qualifier, and well-ranked among USC’s Top Ten in sprint freestyle, breaststroke and relay events.

“Since my time as a young student-athlete, one priority that has both pushed and led me to achieve greater things has been to surround myself with the best,” Walling said. “My family and I moved back home (to New Jersey) from California because we believe The Peddie School shares that priority.”

Along with his head coaching responsibilities, he is also the director of aquatics and director of competitive swimming.
