In Honor of the Teachers

While at Peddie, I was really challenged to reflect on my core beliefs, embrace change and be empowered to find my path. Peddie reinforced shared values like integrity, respect and empathy. These continue to guide my decisions and interactions in my personal and professional life.

Peddie also played a pivotal role in shaping my career choices by emphasizing the importance of continuous growth and ethical leadership. The rigorous academic environment, supportive teachers and diverse extracurricular opportunities fostered my curiosity and critical thinking. Whether it was exploring scientific research with Mr. Oram, enjoying snacks in Doc Martin’s class with the Latin Club, balancing athletic and educational goals, or serving as a peer leader, Peddie provided a foundation for lifelong learning and stewardship.

I’m grateful for lifelong friendships and the strong sense of community, but I’m most appreciative of the inspiring teachers and staff that I remain connected to decades after graduation. Peddie staff and administrators are the core of what makes Peddie so special and they are a significant differentiator from other peer schools.

During my time at Peddie, we went to Lincoln Center to see an opera as part of our music curriculum. This field trip was made possible by The Peddie Fund, and while it may seem inconsequential, the experience was so impactful on my development. Knowing that my contribution to The Peddie Fund will enhance the curriculum and the student experience is incredibly rewarding.

Supporting The Peddie Fund allows me to give back to the institution that fundamentally shaped my education and character. My recurring gifts are made in honor of teachers like Doc Martin, who have been influential to me. It’s my small token of appreciation and gratitude. I can’t put into words how impactful the staff and administration have been to me.

When I was a student, Ambassador Annenberg’s gift immediately transformed the school with technological and capital advancements, for which I was profoundly grateful. Peddie was able to implement computer labs, an email server and a fully networked library before most colleges – it was groundbreaking.

Prior to the gift, Mr. Corica had a computer room in the basement of what was then called Memorial Hall. He was already championing the computer revolution, but when we received Ambassador Annenberg’s gift, it was like a night-and-day improvement. Mr. Corica immediately embraced the opportunity, and that’s why the staff makes the difference for the Peddie experience. The money gives you the tools, but you need someone to guide you through it. Mr. Corica was a champion way ahead of this time. I and generations of other students received the benefit of his knowledge, his curiosity and his innovation.

Seeing current students thrive and succeed reinforces the value of my connection to Peddie. I’ve been involved in some volunteer capacity since I graduated. Staying connected allows me to contribute, mentor and stay informed. It’s a way to perpetuate the Peddie spirit and support the next generations.

In the future, I see Peddie students still engaging in interdisciplinary projects, collaborating with peers and developing new skills – with access to developing technologies and the staff expertise to guide them.
