Joaquin “Moli” Molinet, Class of 1945
Joaquin “Moli” Molinet earned a total of 13 varsity letters in five different sports during his Peddie career.

Moli played varsity basketball for three years. He played forward his sophomore year and as a guard his junior and senior years. He led the team as its captain in 1945. His 1945 team completed a 13-1 season, and repeated as state champions. At the end of the season, Moli was named to the First-Team All-School Basketball Team which included all public and private schools in New Jersey. The 6’1”, 160 lb. Molinet was considered one of the top five players in the state.

Moli also found time during the winter to be on the varsity swimming team for four years.

He played right end on the 1943-44 varsity football team which was designated state champions and inducted into the Peddie Sports Hall of Fame in 1944.

According to the 1943 Old Gold and Blue, Moli was a “seasoned center forward who scored most of the team’s goals” for the 1942 varsity soccer team, He was named captain-elect for the 1943 team.

During the spring season, he was an outstanding infielder for the varsity baseball squad.

Joaquin “Molly” Molinet was one of Peddie’s finest guards in its century of basketball. The Peddie News said, “It will be quite a while before we see another player like him.”
