Robert E. Werner, Class of 1953
Bob Werner is an exemplary choice for Peddie’s Sports Hall of Fame. He was an extraordinary athlete during his tenure at Peddie and later provided leadership as a member of the Peddie Board of Trustees.

Bob earned six varsity letters in three sports – football, wrestling, and baseball at Peddie. He excelled in two sports – wrestling and baseball. Bob received state recognition competing in AAU meets in wrestling and was unquestionably destined for a first-place finish when an injury – suffered in a meet against Admiral Farragut Academy in his senior year – finished him as a contender.

In baseball, Bob was awarded the Most Valuable Player Plaque by Peddie’s varsity baseball coach and Athletic Director William Thompson. And another special note – Bob was elected to the Newark Star Ledger’s Baseball All-Star Team in 1953.

Bob went on to wrestle at Colgate University and made himself well known there, too. Bob represents the best in Peddie athletics.
