The fourth-seeded Peddie varsity boys baseball team (6-12) fell to third-seeded Blair Academy, 8-0, in the NJISAA Prep A Tournament Championship game, the final game of the season.

The fourth-seeded Peddie varsity boys baseball team (6-11) defeated The Hun School of Princeton (top seed), 7-4, in the semifinals of the NJISAA Prep A Tournament (single elimination) on the road.

Brody Buchner pitched a complete game, struck out seven and walked one. He also went 2-for-4 with three RBI, a run scored and a walk at the plate, including a two-run single to extend the Peddie lead to 6-2 in the top of the sixth inning.

“It was nice to get a clean slate after a bit of a rough start the other day with the rain,” Buchner said. “I just wanted to come in here and do my job. The defense helped me behind me and it paid off.”

Buchner earned a win over Hun on the road on May 1.

“It definitely didn’t matter to me,” he said on the tournament seeding. “I did this a couple of weeks ago, same result, so I just had the same mindset, to go in there, throw strikes and get outs.”

Catcher Eduard Fernandez had two bases-loaded walks in the game.

“A walk is the same thing as a single, it helps the team out,” he said. “Pass it forward. I know my teammates have my back and they’re going to drive me in and that’s what happened throughout the whole game.”

As for what went well behind the plate:

“Brody’s command,” he said. “Throwing the right pitches at the right time. Last time we beat them it was the same thing, just throwing the right pitches at the right time. And letting our defense work and having confidence in our defense.”

The Falcons next face third-seeded Blair in the NJISAA Prep A Tournament Championship game on Sunday, May 18 at 4:15 p.m. at The Hun School of Princeton.

The Peddie varsity boys baseball team (5-11) Mercersburg Academy, 9-4, on the road in Game 2 of a doubleheader. Nick Famularo picked up his first varsity win on the mound. Eduard Fernandez had a double at the plate. A.J. Stover had two hits. Owen Piepszak was hit by a pitch five times over the course of the doubleheader, believed to be a school record, according to head coach Erik Treese. The Falcons next travel to The Hun School of Princeton for the first game of the NJISAA Prep A Tournament on Wednesday, May 14 at 4:30 p.m.

The Peddie varsity boys baseball team (4-11) defeated Mercersburg Academy, 15-1, on the road in Game 1 of a doubleheader. Brody Buchner pitched all six innings and had three hits at the plate. Jaden Heble, Jonathan Stizza and Haruo Narita each had two hits. The Falcons next face Mercersburg Academy in Game 2 of a doubleheader on the road on Saturday, May 10 at 4 p.m.

The Peddie varsity boys baseball team (3-11) fell to Lawrenceville School, 10-2, at home in the final home game of the regular season. Owen Piepszak was recognized for Senior Day. Jonathan Stizza went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Haruo Narita went 1-for-3. The Falcons next travel to Mercersburg Academy for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 10.

The Peddie varsity boys baseball team (3-10) fell to West Windsor-Plainsboro South High School, 8-3, on the road. Jonathan Stizza went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, a double and a walk. AJ Stover went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a double. Haruo Narita went 1-for-3 with an RBI. The Falcons next host Lawrenceville School on Tuesday, May 6 at 4:15 p.m. at William M. Thompson ’35 Baseball Field.

The Peddie varsity boys baseball team defeated The Hun School of Princeton, 5-3, on the road.

Brody Buchner recorded his 100th career strikeout on the mound. He pitched a complete game, allowing three runs (one earned), on two hits, striking out four and walking one.

Jonathan Stizza went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Haruo Narita went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Eduard Fernandez went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

The Falcons next travel to West Windsor-Plainsboro South High School on Friday, May 2 at 4 p.m.

The Peddie varsity boys baseball team (2-9) fell to The Pennington School, 11-0, after five innings, at home. The Falcons next travel to The Hun School of Princeton on Thursday, May 1 at 4:15 p.m.

The Peddie varsity boys baseball team (2-7) fell to Trenton High School, 6-5, at home. Jonathan Stizza and Jaden Heble each walked to begin the bottom of the seventh inning. Evan Treese drove in Stizza with an RBI single to cut the score to 6-4. Owen Piepszak was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home another run for a 6-5 score. The Falcons next host The Hill School on Saturday, April 26 at 1:30 p.m. at William M. Thompson ’35 Baseball Field.

Evan Treese pitched a complete game, allowing one run (one earned), on four hits, striking out six and walking three, for his first career Peddie win. Mason Kish had the go-ahead two-run single in the top of the sixth inning. Eduard Fernandez went 2-for-3. Jonathan Stizza went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Jaden Heble made a great defensive play in right field during the bottom of the seventh inning to preserve the lead. The Falcons next host Trenton High School on Wednesday, April 23 at 4:30 p.m. at William M. Thompson ’35 Baseball Field.

Eduard Fernandez went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Evan Treese went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Brody Buchner started the game on the mound and pitched five scoreless innings and struck out eight. The Falcons next travel to The Pennington School on Tuesday, April 22 at 4:15 p.m.
