Spring Rowing

Peddie rowing competed in the second of two days of the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, at Schuylkill River – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The girls 2nd varsity crew won silver.

Managing very challenging headwind conditions and rolling whitecaps, the 2V prevailed from the notoriously unlucky Lane 6. It was a close race with leads changing several times in the middle 500m. In the shelter of the island in the last 400m, the girls solidified their placing with a solid sprint to finish second.

The boys 2V placed fourth in the final.

Peddie rowing competed in the first of two days of the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, at Schuylkill River – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. All crews progressed to Saturday’s semifinals. The boys 2nd varsity 4+ had the best results of the day, with a third-place finish in the time trial. The Falcons next compete in the second of two days of the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, at Schuylkill River – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Saturday, May 16.

Peddie rowing competed in the second and final day of the USRowing Mid-Atlantic Youth Championships, at Caspersen Rowing Center.

The girls 2V, won a bronze medal in the Women’s Youth 2V 4+ final, backing up their relative speed from the heats the day before. The 3V had to race in the 2V event and rowed a very solid race to end their season.

The boys novice boat put up the fastest time in their heat on Saturday and rowed themselves into a bronze medal in their Final on Sunday.

The Falcons next compete in the Stotesbury Cup Regatta from Friday, May 15 to Saturday, May 16 at Schuylkill River – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Boys 1st Varsity 4+ placed 10th in time trial (top 14 to semifinals, Saturday, May 9 at 5:41 PM)

Peddie rowing competed at USRowing Mid-Atlantic Youth Championships, Day 1 of 2, at Caspersen Rowing Center. The Boys Youth 8+, Boys Novice 4+ and 2V Girls 4+ advanced to the finals, which will be during Day 2 of 2 of the USRowing Mid-Atlantic Youth Championships on Sunday, May 10, at Caspersen Rowing Center.

The Peddie rowing team hosted and competed in the 2025-2026 MAPL Championships, at Caspersen Rowing Center. Both the boys and girls teams placed second. The Lawrenceville School placed first for the boys and Blair Academy placed first for the girls.

The Peddie rowing team competed in the Garden State Scholastic Championships at Cooper River in Camden.

The 1V boys boat (Atharva Khamparia, Armaan Motiani, Chris Horsch, Francis McGovern and Frost Gill) comfortably qualified in the heats (top three advanced) for the final by placing third and only .34 seconds behind second. In one of the last races of the day, the 1V could not make up that small gap and missed medaling by .9 behind the same crew that edged them out in their heat.

The boys 2 (Mustafa Ekmecki, Doug Lopez, Aidan Lawler, Tevin Zhou and Jonathan Koo) and 3V (Griffin Truslow, Ryan Yan, Neal Patel, Eeshan Garikapati and Umay Sen) were both entered into the same event. The 2V looked comfortable and poised as they cruised to a 17 second win on the field.

The boys novice 8+ (Yurika Wu, Will Armaund, Henry Goodman, Ryan Yang, Wei Jie Ng, Joseph MacKenzie, Michael Chan, Charlie Zhan, Logan Scowen Arreola) battled through some adversity with the 5 seat having only spent a few practices previously in a boat before racing twice today. While they made it through their heat,
they placed sixth in their final.

Results: 1V – fourth of 13 in the Boys HS Senior 4+ Event
2V – first of five in the Boys HS 2nd Varsity 4+ Event
3V – fifth of five in the Boys HS 2nd Varsity 4+ Event
Novice – sixth of nine in the Boys HS Novice 8+ Event

The girls 1V (Izzy Naso, Anna Terhaar, Ophelia Ni, Aria Shi and Diya Kondapalli) beat Blair Academy by eight seconds and recorded by far the fastest qualifying time for the afternoon final. Blair came back for the win in just under a boat length, but Peddie made big progress.

The 2nd varsity four (Sofia Cervantes, Sophia Chopan, Lea Weinberger, Veronica Simms and Malia Tilton) recorded a first-place finish by 17 seconds, and the 3V 4+ (Scarlett Liu, Abby Cohen, Allison Li, Amelia Kunamneni and Cirah Spurlock-Shackleton) had a third place finish.

The Falcons next compete in and host the 2026 MAPL Championships on Saturday, May 2 at 4:30 p.m. at Caspersen Rowing Center.

The Peddie rowing team competed in the Brown Cup, vs. The Lawrenceville School, at Caspersen Rowing Center. The Lawrenceville School retained The Brown Cup, by accumulating the most number of points between the boys and girls events combined.

The highlights of this regatta were the outstanding start in the 1V consisting of Izzy Naso, Aria Shi, Diya Kondapalli, Malia Tilton and Veronica Simms (led Lawrenceville to the 500m mark)
and the win over Lawrenceville in the 2V (Sofia Cervantes, Sophia Chopan, Lea Weinberger, Ophelia Ni, Cirah Spurlock-Shackleton. Line-ups have been changing recently because of the various absences. In spite of key absences, the team was able to hold last year’s margin behind Lawrenceville in the 1V and reverse the result in the 2V. Last year, the girls team only had two varsity boats. It was exciting to be able to race four boats this year.

The boys won the 2V by a narrow margin, consisting of Mustafa Ekmekci, Ayaan Nagarkatti, Aiden Lawler, Doug Lopez and Jonathan Koo (5:29 and Lawrenceville had a 5:31).

The Falcons next compete in the Garden State Scholastic Championships on Saturday, April 25 at Cooper River in Camden, New Jersey.

Peddie rowing opened the season and competed at Battle of the Blades vs. Blair Academy, at Caspersen Rowing Center.

Blair retained the Battle of the Blades by winning five of the eight events contested for points. Peddie’s girls results were a huge step forward from last year. The boys won three of their four events (up from one last year), and the girls closed 35 second margins last year to six-to-nine seconds.

Following the event, Peddie Rowing and the Peddie community gathered for a boat christening of the “Coach H”, in memory of longtime Peddie Rowing coach Roman Horoszewski.
