There are so many opportunities that I can get here that I am not able to get anywhere else.
Established in 2014 by Michael Armellino ’57 GP’19 as a way to “increase access to Peddie for all kinds of kids who are qualified,” the Armellino Scholars Program invites a select group of highly qualified boarding students to attend Peddie and become part of an intergenerational community of scholars committed to lifelong curiosity, growth and mentorship.
The merit-based scholarship covers tuition and boarding costs, as well as a stipend for an approved summer experience. Since its founding, it has provided more than access to an exceptional education at Peddie. For the initial 24 students, it has inspired them to push themselves to a higher standard, to build connections across generations and communities, to simultaneously pursue their passions and the highest quality of citizenship, and ultimately, to foster growth and lifelong learning during pivotal years of their youth.
When reflecting on their experience, Armellino Scholars consistently return to two themes: gratitude and mentorship.
The Armellino Scholars Program has not only provided students with a top-notch academic experience, but it has also expanded their sense of what it means to contribute to something larger than oneself as they grow into leaders, artists, athletes, teammates, advocates and curious learners.
For many of the alumni scholars, engagement with the Program remains a top priority. In 2026-2027, Peddie will launch the Armellino Scholar Alumni Advisory Board led by the early cohort of alumni scholars. The Board is focused on building an intergenerational community and network of scholars, mentors and donors devoted to supporting one another and Peddie. It will be the first of its kind in the independent school landscape.
